Monteverde's castle, of Lombard origin, with four corner towers: restored, it now houses the MiGra multimedia museum.

The castle of Monteverde stands on a hill already fortified in Samnite times; its construction is attributed to the Lombards, and the first certain record is a parchment of 897. It keeps its original trapezoidal plan, enriched in the Middle Ages by four corner towers, two round and two square, with arrow slits and rectangular windows still visible.Among the families who lived here, the Grimaldi stand out, lords of Monteverde from 1532 to 1641. Inside there is a chapel with an altar, a holy-water stoup and some frescoes. After recent restoration the castle houses the MiGra museum, devoted to the role of women in rural society. We love this dialogue between ancient stone and contemporary storytelling.
