The state museum telling the story of the Miscano valley, from the Neolithic of La Starza to Roman Aequum Tuticum.

Housed in a historic palazzo on Via Donato Anzani, the Ariano Irpino Archaeological Museum, also known as the Antiquarium, gathers finds from excavations in the Miscano valley. A state museum since 2014, it now comes under the Regional Directorate of Museums of Campania. We like the way the route follows a chronological thread, taking visitors from prehistory to the Roman age.It begins with Neolithic pottery and flint tools from the village of La Starza, followed by furnaces for bronze working. Then come Italic and Samnite materials linked to a temple, a necropolis and a sanctuary. We suggest lingering in the section devoted to the Roman vicus of Aequum Tuticum, with coins, bronzes, glass, pottery and milestones.
