Alife Cathedral, with the Romanesque crypt holding the relics of St Sixtus.

Alife Cathedral, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, stands in the centre of the Roman town. It has been rebuilt several times, but its oldest part survives in the crypt.The Romanesque crypt, with reused columns and capitals, holds the relics of Pope St Sixtus, the town's patron saint.
