Small 19th-century rural chapel in San Potito Sannitico, dedicated to Our Lady of Loreto, with a single hall and a cloister vault.
Along the municipal road to the old cemetery of San Potito Sannitico you come across the small church of the Madonna di Loreto, classed as a rural chapel. It was built around the mid-19th century by local craftsmen, with limestone masonry, and belongs to the diocese of Alife-Caiazzo. We like its simplicity, a reflection of the popular devotion that dotted the countryside at the foot of the Matese.The building has a rectangular single-hall plan, covered by a cloister vault and a tiled roof. Do not expect elaborate decoration: its charm lies precisely in the plainness of its forms. We suggest including it in a quiet walk between the village and its surroundings, to appreciate the bond between the village and its farming landscape.
