Gesualdo's "Cappellone", the church of the Blessed Sacrament shaped like a small temple with a cylindrical drum, dome and lantern.

In Gesualdo everyone calls it the Cappellone: it is the church of the Blessed Sacrament, most likely built in the early 17th century, when the fief was ruled by Prince Nicolò Ludovisi. The first certain record is the land register of 1746. It was designed as a worthy home for the consecrated Host and as a place from which to bless the faithful gathered in the square. We are fascinated by its shape, reminiscent of a large tabernacle: on a square base, reached by a wide staircase, rests a cylindrical drum with a dome and lantern, surrounded by a terrace with a railing. The travertine façade has an arched doorway. Inside, a recent fresco depicts Emanuele Gesualdo forgiving his father Carlo, with the districts of the town.
