The "Basilica" of Paestum, the city's oldest temple, dating from the 6th century BC.

The Temple of Hera, known for centuries as the "Basilica", was built around the middle of the 6th century BC and is the oldest of the temples of Paestum. It has an unusual plan, with an odd number of columns on the façade and a row of columns down the centre of the cella. The columns have a characteristic swollen shape.
