Tempa Castello

Above Acerno, on the summit known as Tempa Castello, the wall remains of a Lombard castle survive, evidence of the fortified past of this Picentini village. We like it because it is a little-known spot where history blends with the woods and the silence of the mountain, far from the busiest routes.We suggest reaching it on foot along the path that climbs to the top: we are in the Monti Picentini Regional Park, so it is wise to check the area's rules before setting off. From the top the panorama opens 360 degrees over the village and the surrounding peaks, a reward well worth the effort of the climb.
