In the Capuchin friary of Pietrelcina, founded at Padre Pio's wish, a small museum with objects linked to the saint's life.

The Capuchin friary of Pietrelcina stands in the Gregaria area, on the spot that Padre Pio himself pointed out to the village archpriest. It was completed in 1928 with the support of the American benefactor Mary Pyle, but the friars only settled here in 1947. Inside, a small museum gathers objects that belonged to the saint.Among the most moving items is a tunic with traces of blood, linked to the penances that Padre Pio practised. We like combining this stop with a visit to his birthplace in the old town, in Vico Storto Valle, where the room in which he was born and the original kitchen are preserved. We recommend devoting a whole day to Pietrelcina, at a relaxed pace.
