On the hill overlooking Maddaloni, the Norman-era castle with its great rectangular tower, the symbol of the town.

Considered the symbol of Maddaloni, the castle stands on the hill above the town, at about 170 metres, in a strategic position over the plain. It dates from the Norman era and was restored in the Swabian period; in 1460 Ferrante of Aragon destroyed the castle and the settlement, which then lay abandoned for a long time. Its focal point is a great rectangular tower over twenty metres high, on two levels: below, two barrel-vaulted rooms separated by arches; above, a hall now open to the sky. We recommend climbing up for the view and looking nearby for the cylindrical Torre Artus, built at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries.
