Historic library of the Redemptorists founded in 1748 by St Alphonsus, with about 50,000 volumes and an old collection dating from the 15th century.

The historic library of the Redemptorist Fathers of Pagani was founded in 1748 by St Alphonsus Maria de' Liguori himself, a great lover of books and the author of about one hundred and twenty works. We like to think that this collection grew from his passion for study and culture.Today the library holds about 50,000 volumes. Its most precious core is the old collection, with thousands of texts from the 15th century onwards documenting the religious, humanistic and scientific culture of past centuries. We recommend including it in an itinerary devoted to the saint, together with the basilica, the museum and the art gallery.
