Church dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, part of the Conservatorio ad Arco built between 1682 and 1712 to educate orphan girls.

The church of the Carminiello ad Arco, dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, is part of a complex called the Conservatorio ad Arco. Work began in 1682 and was completed in 1712, while the church was already consecrated in 1683. The complex came from the transformation of a palace commissioned by Carlo Pignataro, count palatine and chief physician of the Kingdom of Naples. Its purpose was to take in and educate poor and orphaned girls, a work considered of great merit at the time; the conservatory followed the rule of St Teresa, established with the consent of the bishop of the day. We like discovering this corner of Pagani that tells a page of 17th-century social and religious history.
