Village with an ancient layout built on a cardo and decumanus, with the Seggio at the crossroads, the Sanseverino castle and medieval squares.

The historic centre of Teggiano preserves a very ancient urban plan, organised along two axes: the decumanus, from Piazza Municipio to Largo Santo Spirito, and the cardo, from Piazza Sant'Agostino to the Barbacane tower. The most important places lie along these very streets, a sign of a town carefully planned from its origins and consolidated in the Middle Ages.We recommend starting from the crossing of the two axes, where the Seggio stands, then reaching the Renaissance castle of the Sanseverino at the end of the cardo and the bishop's palace with the seminary at the end of the decumanus. Almost all the squares are medieval: the exceptions are Piazza Sant'Agostino, from the 19th century, and Piazza Castello, rebuilt in the 20th century.
