Church of Sant'Antonio, known as Sant'Antuono, in Teggiano: a medieval basilica plan and a rediscovered fresco cycle.

On the north side of Teggiano's old centre, not far from the castle walls, stands the Church of Sant'Antonio, which locals call Sant'Antuono. It is among the oldest buildings in the village, with origins dating back at least to the 11th century. Outside it looks sober, with the bell tower built into the thickness of the façade. The interior has a basilica plan, with a narrow central nave separated from the aisles by a colonnade; part of the right aisle was demolished in 1958 to make way for a road. We are moved above all by the medieval fresco cycle that re-emerged during the most recent restoration: we suggest giving it the time it deserves.
