Furore Fjord

A deep cleft in the rock of the Amalfi Coast, once a natural harbour and the heart of Furore's paper mills and flour mills.

The Furore valley, known to everyone as the Fjord, is a deep fissure in the rock and one of the most distinctive features of the landscape on this stretch of coast. Thanks to its shape, Furore was an impregnable stronghold even at the time of the Saracen raids. We like the theatrical effect of this gorge opening onto the sea.The Fjord was also a natural harbour, where thriving trade took place and the area's first craft and industrial activities arose: paper mills and flour mills driven by the waters of the stream descending from the Monti Lattari. We recommend going down to the little beach and looking up at the rock walls.
