An open-air museum in the Furore valley, among 18th-century paper mills, flour mills and channels where paper was made from rags.

The Ecomuseum is a true open-air museum telling the story of an 18th-century proto-industrial settlement, stretched along the final stretch of the Schiato stream, in the valley above the Fjord. Here stood paper mills, flour mills, channels and water towers, now restored to recall the local craft of making paper by pounding and soaking rags. The route takes in several stops: paper mills and flour mills, a lime kiln, the chapel of Santa Caterina, the monazzeni (fishermen's storehouses) of the fishing village and the villa that belonged to Anna Magnani. We like the botanical trail with labelled plants. We recommend comfortable shoes and a guide to discover all the details.
