An 18th-century church in Cairano, seat of a confraternity, in the small clifftop village of Alta Irpinia.

In the village of Cairano, perched on its crag in Alta Irpinia, stands the church of the Immacolata Concezione. The cultural heritage catalogue dates it to the 18th century and describes it as the work of local craftsmen and the seat of a confraternity, one of the lay associations that for centuries enlivened the religious life of Irpinian villages. It is a simple building, tied to the community's devotion rather than to grandeur. We like to include it in a stroll through Cairano's alleys, together with the churches of San Leone and San Martino. We suggest taking your time to enjoy the views over the valley that the village offers from every corner.
