In San Marco dei Cavoti the Church of the Carmine, of 14th-century origin, preserves 18th-century frescoes and is at the heart of the Festa dei Carri.

Overlooking the square of the same name, the Church of Maria Santissima del Carmine dates back to the 14th century and was originally dedicated to the Santissima Annunziata. Over the centuries it has been altered several times and inside it preserves 18th-century frescoes. Next to it, traces of an old Dominican friary can be seen, now turned into a home.The church is linked to a confraternity and to one of the village's best-loved festivals: on the second Sunday of August the Festa dei Carri and of the Madonna del Carmine is celebrated, with the procession of the statue and the parade of wheat floats decorated by the districts. We love this tradition, and we recommend planning your visit for those days.
