The old church of the Annunziata in Piano di Montoro, recorded from 1367 and served for centuries by the Augustinian friars.

In Piano di Montoro, the church of the Annunziata is now part of the parish of San Giovanni Battista e San Nicola da Tolentino. The first records come from notarial wills of 1367. From 25 April 1471 the church, donated by Pope Paul II, was entrusted to the Augustinian friars, who restored it and looked after it for a long time, with further works in 1760 and 1771.The original structure was probably rebuilt between the mid-17th and early 18th centuries, perhaps after the earthquakes of 1688 and 1694, moving from Gothic to Romanesque-Baroque forms. A survey of 1650 describes it as about 38 metres long and over 18 metres high. We like to recall that until 1692 it was the seat of the confraternity of the flagellants, later the congregation of Corpus Domini.
