Small church perched on a spur above the Sala district of Corbara, with two canvases attributed to Luca Giordano.

Perched on a crag above the square of the Sala district, the Church of Sant'Erasmo is one of Corbara's most scenic spots. Inside are two canvases attributed to Luca Giordano, the great figure of 17th-century Neapolitan painting.The church is linked to one of the town's most heartfelt traditions, the Calata dell'angelo ("Descent of the Angel"), the popular performance that ends in the square below. We suggest climbing up here to admire the village from above, and we like to imagine the sight on feast days, when the whole district gathers at the foot of the crag.
