Three-nave church in Angri, joined to the Friars Minor convent, with papier-mâché statues of St Francis and St Clare and mosaics of the saint.

In Angri, the Church of San Francesco d'Assisi stands next to the convent of the Friars Minor, with which it connects directly through a door in the left wall of the nave, opened at the time of its foundation. The interior has three naves with a single high altar and has been renovated in modern times. We like the papier-mâché statues of St Francis and St Clare and the three mosaics devoted to the saint of Assisi, two on the side walls and one above the altar. We suggest dropping by on 4 October, St Francis's feast day, when the nearby neighbourhood celebrates the saint with a small festival.
