Church of the Santissimo Rosario in Romagnano al Monte

The history of the Church of the Santissimo Rosario follows that of Romagnano al Monte. The old church, parish seat from the second half of the 17th century and rebuilt in the 18th, stood in the old village perched above the Platano gorges. After the 1980 earthquake the village was abandoned, and the church was rebuilt with the same title in the new settlement, inaugurated in 2007.We like visiting both souls of the village: the modern parish church, which keeps the community's devotion alive, and the deserted historic centre, where the ruins of the castle and old churches remain. We advise caution in the old village and suggest pausing to take in the wild landscape on the border with Basilicata.
