Church of San Lorenzo Martire in San Lorenzo Maggiore

In the centre of the village stands the collegiate church of San Lorenzo, completed in 1417 and raised to collegiate status in 1553, when the Universitas and the townspeople funded a series of enlargements. The bell tower bears the date 1661 and still dominates the village skyline in the Telesina valley.Inside, we recommend approaching the high altar, which came from the Church of Santa Maria della Strada and is surrounded by a 17th-century wooden choir. Above it hangs the 18th-century canvas of the saint's martyrdom, by Francesco Mazzacca. We also like the wooden statue of St Lawrence and the altarpiece with the Madonna and Child between Saints Lawrence and Amandus.
