A church in the village of Lapio holding 18th-century Neapolitan nativity figures.

In the small wine-growing village of Lapio, the church of San Giuseppe is one of the stops on the itinerary through the village's places of worship. Its main point of interest is a set of fine Neapolitan nativity figures from the 18th century, a testament to Campania's great nativity-scene tradition. We love knowing that in Lapio the confraternities set up the nativity scenes, renewing them every four or five years and keeping a precious custom alive. We suggest visiting the village at Christmas time and continuing to the mother church of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria and the church of the Carmelo, which also keeps 18th-century nativity figures.
