Mother church of Monte San Giacomo, rebuilt in the 20th century on the model of the 16th-century one, with a 17th-century crucifix.
The mother church dedicated to St James the Apostle, the town's patron, is the religious heart of Monte San Giacomo, in the Vallo di Diano. The present building is the result of a 20th-century reconstruction that followed the layout of the earlier 16th-century church.Inside, we suggest looking for the 17th-century wooden crucifix, the polychrome statue of the saint, a late-Mannerist canvas of the Adoration of the Shepherds and a statue of the Madonna and Child. We also like the 16th-century fountain nearby: a perfect stop before continuing through the lanes of the centre.
