14th-century chapel incorporated into a noble palace, with a cross vault and a curious screened window for following services.

At the entrance to the Cicerali hamlet, on Corso Reginna, you notice the portal of this chapel, incorporated into the large Palazzo Citarella, with the family coat of arms in coloured stucco above the door. It was founded in 1362 by the Francone family and in 1525 passed to the Citarella. Traces of late medieval architecture can still be seen in the cross vault. The single-nave interior preserves a wooden bust of Our Lady of Sorrows. Above all we like the gelosia, a grilled window from which the owners of the palace followed services without being seen: an 18th-century Latin inscription records the papal permission to open it. We recommend looking for this curious detail.
