On the outskirts of Marcianise, Castel Loriano is a feudal castle with towers, walls and a portal, linked to legends and literature.

On the south-western outskirts of Marcianise stands Castel Loriano, a feudal-type castle that tradition says was built around 1300 as a military stronghold. The families who lived here over the centuries transformed its appearance, which partly still recalls the late 16th century, with towers, boundary walls, a defensive corner tower and the original entrance portal. We like its literary aura: the castle appears in the novel Il dormiveglia by Giuseppe Bonaviri, while a popular legend even tells of a stay by Napoleon. Today it is a protected private property but semi-abandoned: we recommend admiring it respectfully from the outside, imagining the small church it holds inside.
