In Capodrise the house of painter Domenico Mondo, a pupil of Solimena, is now a house museum with an 18th-century façade and a small English garden.

We take you to the home town of Domenico Mondo (1723-1806), a painter trained in the school of Francesco Solimena, who worked for the Bourbon court, frescoed rooms in the Royal Palace of Caserta and in 1789 was called to direct the Neapolitan Academy of Drawing. He lived here until that year and his home has become a house museum dedicated to his life and work.We like reading on the façade the transition from Baroque to neoclassical taste, visible above all in the frames of the first-floor balconies and windows, decorated by the artist himself. We recommend spending a few minutes in the English garden in the courtyard, with grottoes, little temples, fake ruins and citrus trees with whitewashed trunks according to a local farming custom.
