In Arienzo, the old palace of the bishops of Sant'Agata de' Goti, home of St Alphonsus Maria de' Liguori, now the Alphonsian Museum.

The Bishop's Palace of Arienzo was the residence of the bishops of Sant'Agata de' Goti, the diocese the town belonged to until 1854, when the territories of the Suessola valley passed to the diocese of Acerra. It is a place that preserves a deeply felt spiritual memory. This is where St Alphonsus Maria de' Liguori lived: appointed bishop in 1762, he chose the palace for its healthy air and lived here permanently from 1767 to 1775. Today the building houses the Alphonsian Museum of the diocese of Acerra, with relics and mementoes of the saint. We recommend a visit to anyone wishing to learn about his life and spirituality.
