The Gothic complex built by the Angevins, famous for its majolica-tiled cloister.

The basilica was built in the 14th century at the behest of Robert of Anjou and Queen Sancia. Badly damaged by the bombing of 1943, it has been rebuilt in its original Gothic form and holds the tombs of the Angevin rulers. The jewel of the complex is the Cloister of the Poor Clares, with pillars and benches covered in 18th-century majolica tiles painted with scenes of everyday life. The complex also includes the museum with the excavations of a Roman bath complex.
