The seaside villa in Portici linked to the discovery of Herculaneum.
The villa was built in the early 18th century by the Prince d'Elboeuf on the seashore at Portici. It was during the works to decorate it, while digging a well, that the first statues of ancient Herculaneum were found.It was later bought by the Bourbons. Today the villa is under restoration and can be seen from outside, near the small harbour of Granatello.
