An Angevin tower from 1335 on the far tip of the Sorrento peninsula, whose alarm bell gave Punta Campanella its name.

At the tip of the Sorrento peninsula stands the Tower of Minerva, built in 1335 by King Robert of Anjou. It was renovated in the 16th century, after Turkish raids on Massa and Sorrento. Today it is truncated, but still clearly visible, and we like reaching it for the landscape around it.Its distinctive feature was a bell, rung to warn the population in case of danger. It is from this bell that the name Punta Campanella comes, which over time replaced the ancient Latin name of Promontory of Minerva. We recommend getting there on foot, at a leisurely pace, to enjoy the view of Capri.
