Ruins of a fortress on a height overlooking the coast, with eastern bastions and a massive round tower from the 1564 works.

Outside the town, on a height overlooking the coast, stand the ruins of the Castle of the Annunziata. The eastern bastions and a massive round tower survive today, together with a well connected to a cistern that supplied the fortress with water. We like the view that opens up from here. Its origins date back to the ducal period, between the 10th and 12th centuries, but nothing remains from that phase. The castle was rebuilt in 1389 by Ladislaus of Durazzo and held out until the siege of 1465; its present appearance is mainly due to the works of 1564. We recommend combining the visit with a walk in the surrounding area.
