Flavian Amphitheatre of Pozzuoli
Il terzo anfiteatro romano d'Italia per grandezza, a Pozzuoli, con i sotterranei ben conservati.
Archaeological site · Pozzuoli (NA)

Remains of a large 2nd-century AD Roman bath complex, laid out on several levels towards the harbour of Puteoli.
Despite its name, the so-called Temple of Neptune is actually what remains of a vast bath building of ancient Puteoli, spread over several levels descending towards the harbour. We like discovering how an evocative name hides a place devoted to the well-being and social life of the Romans. It was built around the 2nd century AD in opus reticulatum and brick and underwent various rebuildings during restorations of the baths. It remained in use until the 4th century, then was abandoned when it was no longer possible to maintain the complex water supply system. The site can be visited on request: we advise you to plan ahead.
