A 16th-century sanctuary on the slopes of Monte Albino, a destination for spring pilgrimages, reached by a long covered staircase.

On the green slopes of Monte Albino, which towers over Nocera, stands this sanctuary founded in 1530 by the Nocera soldier Giovan Battista Castaldo. For centuries it held one of the rare original paintings by Raphael in the South, the so-called Alba Madonna, now in Washington. The Olivetans once lived here, having built a monastery.Damaged by a landslide in 1745, it was restored in 1819, when the cult of the Madonna dei Miracoli was revived. We like the climb: from the road a flight of steps begins, followed by a long covered staircase lit by large arched windows, leading to the single-nave church with a dome over the presbytery, rich in inscriptions, paintings and ex-votos. We recommend going up in spring.
