A Neo-Gothic chapel from 1884 with a Greek inscription and a relief of Saint Sophia with her daughters; today admired from outside.

Beside a palace in Nocera Inferiore, with which it once communicated through the small choir loft, stands this little Neo-Gothic chapel dedicated to Saint Sophia. It was built in 1884 by Gabriele Lanzara in memory of his wife Sofia de' Santi. We are intrigued by the inscription in Greek letters on the façade. In the lunette of the portal a bas-relief depicts Saint Sophia of Rome with her daughters Faith, Hope and Charity. Inside are the marble monument of Sofia de' Santi and, on the altar, a painting of the saint with her daughters by the painter Camillo Miola. The chapel is closed, so we recommend admiring it from outside, starting with the portal.
