Cerreto Sannita palazzo formed by joining two residences, with frescoed rooms attributed to Francesco Celebrano.

Palazzo Ungaro was created in 1780 by joining two buildings erected in Cerreto Sannita after the 1688 earthquake, those of the Valletta and Mazzacane families. The Ungaro family, who received one wing in 1726 as a reward for governing the county, lived here until the mid-20th century. Michele Ungaro, the first president of the Province of Benevento after Italian Unification, was born here.We recommend noticing the two large portals, corresponding to the two original wings. We are fascinated by the rooms of the piano nobile, with frescoes attributed to Francesco Celebrano: popular scenes in monochrome blue, putti on the vaults and grotesques close to those of the Royal Palace of Caserta. The garden fountain, dismantled after the war, has been partly reassembled along the provincial road to Telese.
