18th-century palazzo in Cerreto Sannita with an alternating rusticated portal, a Rococo door and balconies framed by stucco.

Among the 18th-century residences of Cerreto Sannita, Palazzo Carizza grew from a modest house bought in 1712 by Girolamo Carizza and then enlarged by the physician Libero Carizza and his son Tommaso, as far as today's Vico Cipressi. We like it as an example of the rise of Cerreto's families in the town rebuilt after the 1688 earthquake. We recommend lingering over the portal, with cushion rustication alternating with diamond-point blocks, and the door with a Rococo wooden fanlight, decorated with floral motifs around a putto. The piano nobile alternates balconies and windows topped by oculi, framed by 18th-century stucco work. Inside, the typical layout of Cerreto palazzi is repeated, with a double entrance hall and a loggia.
