Museum in Bosco devoted to the Spanish painter José Ortega, who spent his last twenty years here, with lithographs and papier-mâché panels.

In Bosco, a small hamlet at the foot of Monte Bulgheria, the Spanish painter José Ortega chose to spend his last twenty years. A pupil of Picasso, an exile and a committed anti-fascist, he designed and built his home studio here, bringing a touch of Moorish atmosphere to the mountains of Cilento. We like the idea that an artist so bound to freedom found a home in this quiet corner. The museum dedicated to him is in a building on Piazza Santa Rosalia, once a school, and spreads over three floors that trace his thinking and artistic journey. On the ground floor awaits the Decalogue of Democracy, ten lithographs against all dictatorships; on the upper floors ten papier-mâché panels. We recommend visiting it at a relaxed pace.
