Remains of a rich 17th-century convent on the slope towards San Martino, with Cosimo Fanzago's theatrical balustrade with telamons.

Above Portamedina, on the slope rising towards San Martino, the convent of the Santissima Trinità was founded in the early 17th century at the wish of the noblewoman Vittoria de Silva, who became Sister Eufrosina. The nuns settled here in 1608, while the works passed from Francesco Grimaldi to Giovanni Giacomo Di Conforto and finally to Cosimo Fanzago. It became one of the richest convents in the city, but then went through a long decline: after the dome of the Greek-cross church collapsed, marble and works of art were scattered. Some surviving masterpieces, including paintings by Ribera, are now in the Capodimonte Museum. The church is closed; we recommend looking from outside for the balustrade with telamons designed by Fanzago.
