At the foot of the village of Valle di Maddaloni, the 16th-century Church of the Annunziata with a wooden choir and a fresco of 1749.
At the foot of the hill on which the village of Valle di Maddaloni nestles stands the Church of the Santissima Annunziata, dating from the early 16th century and once the parish seat. We like recalling the solemn Te Deum celebrated in 1753 for the intendant of Caserta, when the fief of Valle came under the control of Charles III.The interior has three naves with three chapels on each side, plus two in the transept, and barrel and cross vaults. We suggest lingering over the twelve-stall wooden choir decorated with two griffins, the inlaid white marble high altar and the Annunciation fresco painted beneath the vault in 1749 by Giovanni Cosenza.
