In the old town of Castel Volturno, the 1533 Church of the Annunziata with a five-arched portico and a 15th-century altarpiece.

Overlooking the square of the same name in the old town, the Church of the Annunziata in Castel Volturno was built in the 16th century, as the 1533 dedication on the portal records, and later altered: its present layout and bell tower are 18th-century. The gabled façade is preceded by a five-arched portico, and the portal bears coats of arms with the Roman bridge, symbol of the town. The single-nave interior has a transept and a dome on an octagonal drum. We recommend approaching the polychrome marble high altar to admire the 15th-century altarpiece of the Annunciation. We also like discovering the paintings dedicated to St Castrensis and the Madonna del Carmelo, the gilded wooden pulpit and the old carved tombstones.
