A church of medieval origin in Rocca San Felice, rebuilt in 1728 and reopened in 1991 after the earthquake.

The origins of the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rocca San Felice probably date back to the 11th–12th centuries: it is mentioned in a bull of Pope Celestine III of 1197. In 1555 the confraternity of the Santissimo Corpo di Gesù was founded here. Entirely rebuilt in 1728 and restored in 1951, it was almost destroyed along with its bell tower by the 1980 earthquake and reopened on 4 August 1991.Outside, we like the facing in local stone, with the bell tower built against the church. Inside, we recommend the polychrome stucco altar made in 1724 by Filippo Rossi of Carife, a 17th-century Madonna and Child in the Neapolitan taste and an 18th-century wooden crucifix. Wooden statues of several saints, including Saint Felix and Saint Anthony of Padua, complete the ensemble.
