In Celle di Bulgheria, the Church of the Madonna della Neve preserves a striking 18th-century polychrome marble altar.

Among the places to see in Celle di Bulgheria, a village on the slopes of Monte Bulgheria, is the church dedicated to the Madonna della Neve (Our Lady of the Snows). Outside it is a modest building, but inside it holds its finest surprise.Its pride is an 18th-century altar in polychrome marble, where white alternates with red, orange, turquoise and dark green. Behind it opens a half-domed apse, with polygonal walls decorated with Neoclassical stucco and friezes. We suggest taking a few minutes to look at it closely, then going on to explore the historic centre.
