In the San Mauro quarter of Alvignano, a medieval stone church with a carved portal and a Neapolitan-school wooden Madonna.

Along the road through the San Mauro quarter of Alvignano stands the Church of Santa Maria della Natività, considered one of the finest medieval monuments in the province. It is built of rough stone, and its portal in local stone is a small carved book: floral motifs, the horse and the pig, the symbols of the Evangelists and the name Egone.Inside, we recommend admiring the Madonna and Child in pear wood, an example of Neapolitan art with its original colours recovered in restoration, which legend says was found in a well. We also like the surviving frescoes of St Lucy and St Maurus and the baptismal font. On 26 July the procession of St Anne livens up the quarter.
