An ancient Amalfi parish founded in 862, with a Byzantine plan on four columns and a Roman urn used as a holy water stoup.

Along the Salita Truglio we find one of Amalfi's ten medieval parishes. Originally dedicated to Saints Philip and James, it was founded in 862 by Sergio Comite; devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel arrived only in the 17th century. The church was built on a square Byzantine plan on four columns, still visible, with medieval capitals. We love one curious detail: the holy water stoup is a Roman cinerary urn from the 1st century AD. We suggest looking for it as soon as you step inside.
