The Church of Santa Maria Assunta stands in Cesarano, a hamlet of Tramonti, on the site of an old Norman fortress. In 1514 it was enlarged with two more aisles.Around 1700 Luca Giordano painted two canvases for the church, the Assumption on the high altar and a Crucifixion. It holds a reliquary bust made after a vow during the plague of 1656.
