Flavian Amphitheatre of Pozzuoli
Il terzo anfiteatro romano d'Italia per grandezza, a Pozzuoli, con i sotterranei ben conservati.
Church · Pozzuoli (NA)

An 18th-century church with a double staircase and a two-level crypt; its excavations uncovered the Roman statue nicknamed Santo Mamozio.
Dedicated to the Most Holy Name of Jesus but known as San Giuseppe, this church dates from the 18th century. While digging the foundations in 1704, the statue of a Roman consul emerged, which the people of Pozzuoli nicknamed Santo Mamozio: it stood for a long time in the main square and is now in the Archaeological Museum of the Campi Flegrei. A story that always makes us smile. The façade, with elegant stucco mouldings, is fronted by a double staircase beneath which opens the entrance to the crypt. Inside you can admire canvases from the first half of the 18th century. We recommend going down into the crypt, which is on two levels: the first, a three-aisled room supported by six sturdy pillars, hosted confraternity meetings and funeral rites.
