Church
Basilica of Santa Maria dell'Olmo
Basilica minore dal 1931, Santa Maria dell'Olmo è il cuore della devozione cavese, con un convento dal chiostro cinquecentesco.
Church · Cava de' Tirreni (SA)

A 17th-century church of the former Poor Clares' convent, now a museum space for art and events on Cava's main street.
This church was built between 1640 and 1650 for the convent of the Poor Clares of San Giovanni al Borgo, and was once very rich in furnishings and vestments. After the convent was suppressed in 1866 it was closed and has changed character several times: a venue for political rallies, a cinema, a post office, a prefecture. We like its eventful history.Today it is an art museum and an events space. The rectangular building has two levels, with an ochre façade marked by pilasters, stucco and lunettes over the windows, and a grey stone portal reached by five steps. We recommend checking the current exhibitions before you stop by.
