A castle of medieval origin overlooking the hills of Montemiletto, around which the historic centre grew.

In a commanding position over the Irpinian hills, the castle of Montemiletto has medieval origins and is the focal point around which the village's historic centre grew. Montemiletto was a fief of the della Leonessa and de Tocco families until the abolition of feudalism in 1806, and the castle belonged to the lords of Tocco. We like the way its bulk shapes the village skyline. We suggest climbing up to Piazza Umberto I, where the main entrance opens, passing through the Porta della Terra, the old archway beside the castle. At the foot of the fortress lies Piazza IV Novembre, now the village's new meeting place: a good starting point for exploring the historic centre on foot.
