Benedetto Croce Municipal Library of San Cipriano Picentino

Founded as a public library in 1935 and becoming the municipal library in 1991, this collection holds about six thousand volumes. Its heart is the old collection, declared of historical and cultural value in 2003. We like discovering how even a small town in the Picentini can preserve documents so important for the history of its area.Among the most precious items we point out the 1734 manuscript of the Catasto Onciario (land register) of the Terra di Filetta e Pezzano and the volumes of the Murat land register of 1809. Also very interesting is the collection of laws and decrees from 1806 to 1830, which tells the story of the transition from the old Universitas to the modern municipality.
